First, let’s laugh at the Gatwick Express. It’s fast, sure—but at nearly £20 one-way, it’s the travel equivalent of buying a designer handbag to carry your groceries. You’ll feel fancy for thirty minutes, then cry when you realize you could have bought a pint and a pasty with the savings.
The truth is, nobody actually takes the Express unless their company is paying or they’re running late enough to sweat through their passport. For the rest of us, there’s a better way—and it involves a bus, a train, or a very long walk that I don’t recommend unless you’re training for a marathon.
