The next time you hop on a 73 or a 453, take a second to nod at the driver. They’re not just moving you from A to B; they’re navigating three tonnes of steel through a city that changes its mind every block, for a salary that’s a pragmatic trade-off between reward and resilience.
In a world obsessed with hustle culture, the bus driver’s wage is a quiet rebellion against burnout. It’s steady, it’s fair-ish, and it comes with a front-row seat to the greatest show on earth: London, in all its chaotic, beautiful glory. So next time you tap your Oyster, remember—you’re not just paying for a ride. You’re funding a life of constant motion, and that’s a salary story worth telling.
