If you’re in central London, just follow the sound of whistles and someone chanting into a microphone too loudly. You’ll also see police officers on horses, looking majestic and a little bored. They’ve seen it all—angry pandas, people dressed as trees, a guy in a banana costume last week.
The fun part is that protests here have a strange politeness. Someone will be screaming “Down with the system!” and then stop to apologize for bumping into you. “So sorry, luv, but the system must fall, obviously.” It’s very British.

What to Bring If You Join
First: an umbrella. Always an umbrella. Second: comfy shoes, because you’ll be standing for hours. Third: snacks. I saw a woman eating a packet of Quavers while holding a sign that said “Justice Now.” It was a beautiful contrast—crisps + revolution = the spirit of London.
Also, bring a good attitude. You might not change a law today, but you’ll definitely get a funny story. And maybe a free badge from a friendly activist. I once got a badge that said “Question Everything,” and I wore it next to my “I Love Greggs” pin. Deep stuff.
