Charlie has no idea his daughter is friends with shapeshifters. He just thinks Jacob Black is a friendly kid with a ponytail. And yet, he instinctively trusts Jacob more than Edward. That’s dad instinct. He smells the 100-year-old vampire energy.
He even lets Jacob crash on the couch. In a weird way, Charlie becomes the den dad of the wolf pack. He offers them snacks. He ignores their sudden nudity. He just asks them to wipe their feet. That’s peak parenting.

The Car. Oh, The Car.
Charlie buys Bella a 1960s Chevy pickup truck. It’s red. It’s loud. It’s basically a tank. He calls it “safe.” Meanwhile, Edward drives a Volvo that whispers. Charlie knows that truck is a statement. It says, “My daughter will survive an apocalypse.”
Fun fact: That truck was originally a 1953 Chevy in the book. The movie changed it. Why? Because a 1960s model looks cooler in a crash scene. Charlie would approve. He loves practical things that can take a beating.
