A lot of people ask if they can add lavender or eucalyptus oil to their humidifier. Please, for the love of your machine, don’t do it—unless your humidifier is specifically designed for oils. Regular models will get gunked up, and the oil can degrade the plastic.
I once poured peppermint oil into mine, thinking I’d create a spa-like oasis. Instead, I created a sticky, minty nightmare that smelled good but ruined the tank. My room smelled like a candy cane factory exploded. Lesson learned: keep oils in diffusers, humidifiers in water.
