You cannot wash your hair on Day One. Or Day Two, if you’re superstitious. Washing your hair washes away your luck. My hair gets greasy by hour six, so I’m basically a walking oil spill by Day Two. But you know what? Dry shampoo is a life-saver. And it’s not technically “washing,” so it’s allowed. We obey the letter of the law while ignoring the spirit. Be sneaky.
And no haircuts during the entire first month of the lunar calendar. It’s bad luck for your mother’s brothers. Yes, specifically your maternal uncles. No one is 100% sure why. But do you want to risk your uncle’s health over a trim? Didn’t think so.
