Microsoft made a choice, and it was… interesting. Instead of Bluetooth, they created their own proprietary wireless protocol. You know, just to keep things spicy.
It’s the same tech they use for the Xbox Wireless Headset and those fancy Design Lab controllers. It works great, but only with Xbox consoles or a special dongle on PC.
So why wouldn’t they just use Bluetooth? Good question! Maybe they wanted to sell more dongles? Conspiracy theories, anyone?
But Wait—What About the Xbox One S and Xbox One X?
Here’s where it gets fun. The Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles themselves? Still no Bluetooth for audio or controllers.
You can’t just pop in some AirPods and call it a day. That would be too easy, like finding a parking spot in a crowded lot. Nope. Not happening.
The only Bluetooth-like magic on the Xbox One is for pairing the controller to the console. But that’s a closed, locked-down system. It’s not standard Bluetooth you can use for anything else.
