Next, buy a really good bleach powder and a 20-volume developer. Don’t use 30 or 40 volume unless you want crispy noodles for hair. Mix it exactly as the box says. No improvising.
Section your hair like you’re giving it a complex geometry test. Start applying the bleach one inch away from your roots. Your scalp heat will cook those roots faster. Apply to the mid-lengths and ends first, wait 15 minutes, then do the roots.

Watch it like a hawk. Check every 5 minutes. When it lifts to a pale yellow—like the inside of a banana—rinse it out immediately. Cold water, no shampoo. Just conditioner.
The Toning Tango
Now you have yellow hair. It’s not light brown yet. You need to tone it. Grab a light brown dye with a cool or neutral tone. Apply it all over your damp, towel-dried hair. Leave it for the full processing time. No cheating.
Rinse again. Use a conditioner that’s not purple—unless you want purple highlights. (Spoiler: you don’t.)
And then… bam. You’ll have a gorgeous, dimensional light brown. You’ll catch yourself in mirrors and think, “Who is that glowing goddess?”
