At the end of the day, gas prices matter because they’re tied to our freedom. In Johnson City, you drive to see the fall leaves on Buffalo Mountain. You drive to grab a burger at a diner on Market Street. You drive to visit family out in Bluff City. That little number on the pump decides how many of those small joys you can afford.
So yes, pay attention. But don’t let it ruin your day. Laugh at the absurdity of it all. Share a ride with a friend. And next time you see a price jump, just shrug, smile, and remember: at least you’re not stuck in traffic in a big city. For now, we’ve still got our hills, our shortcuts, and our secret cheap gas spots. And that’s worth a little extra conversation at the pump.
