After his run, Murakami heads back home to write, and this is where things get really interesting. He spends around 4-6 hours typing away on his computer, completely focused on his craft. His discipline is admirable, and it's no wonder he's able to produce such incredible works of fiction.
One of the funniest things about Murakami's writing routine is his love of coffee. He's a self-proclaimed coffee aficionado and can't start his day without a cup (or two, or three...). He's even gone on record saying that coffee is essential to his writing process. Who can blame him, though - coffee is the lifeblood of many a writer!

Murakami's also a bit of a music lover, and his taste in tunes is eclectic, to say the least. He's a fan of everything from classical to jazz to rock, and often listens to music while he writes. He believes that music helps him tap into his creative subconscious, and who knows, maybe it's the secret to his unique writing style.
