Most people plop these in the back garden. But I’ve seen photos of them tucked into woodland edges or even as garden studios near city terraces. You don’t need acres of land. A 6-metre circle of flat ground is enough.
But think about drainage. Water runs off that dome roof like a giant slug. You’ll want a gravel perimeter or a small trench to stop your garden turning into a swamp. Trust me, been there, done that with a cheap gazebo.
Is It Worth It?
If you’re looking for a quick flip or a cheap shed, probably not. But if you want a sanctuary—a place that makes you smile every time you unlock the round door—then yes. Absolutely. The hobbit house kit is a ridiculous, wonderful, impractical-in-the-best-way investment.
I haven’t bought mine yet. But I’ve measured the lawn, saved the website, and started stockpiling good coffee for that muddy weekend build. Maybe this time next year, I’ll be writing to you from under a turf roof. And my inner child is doing a happy dance.
