First off, let’s talk about where this hotel actually lives. It’s not right in the historic city center with the punts and the punting tourists. Nope. It’s out in Cambourne, a purpose-built “new town” that feels like it was designed by someone who really, really loves roundabouts.
You’ll drive through about twelve of them to get here. But once you do, you realize the trade-off is worth it. You’re ten minutes from the M11, five minutes from a massive Tesco, and you can actually park your car without selling a kidney. Free parking, people. Let that sink in.
The Room: Surprisingly Sane
You walk in and it’s… fine. But like, a good fine. It’s clean. The bed is the kind of firm that makes you feel like you’re being hugged by a marshmallow in a business suit. The bathroom has that distinctive “hotel shower gel” scent—you know the one, like lemons and industrial efficiency.
There’s a desk. There’s a TV. There’s a kettle. It’s a Holiday Inn Express, so don’t expect a chandelier. Expect exactly what you need, and nothing you don’t. Frankly, I prefer that to a hotel that tries to be a boutique but forgets to change the sheets.
