Because Uber wants happy drivers and happy riders. It’s a two-way street. Drivers rate you on things like politeness, punctuality, and whether you treat their car like a trash can. Ever eaten a greasy burger and left the wrapper? That’s a rating-killer, my friend.
It’s also cool because it gives you feedback without the awkwardness. Imagine a driver telling you, “Hey, you talk too much.” Awkward, right? The star system handles that silently. It’s like a ghost review of your carpool charisma.
Can You Improve Your Rating?
Absolutely! Think of it as a video game score. Be on time. Drivers hate waiting. Say “hello” when you get in, and “thanks” when you get out. It’s minimal effort, but it adds up like points in a bowling game.
Also, keep the car tidy. No shoes on the seats, no crumbs from your snack stash. And please—please—don’t slam the door. Drivers notice that tiny thud, and it echoes in their rating memory. Treat the car like it’s your grandma’s prized sedan.
If you’re curious about your rating over time, you can’t see every single driver’s individual score. But Uber does show an average. It’s like democratic democracy for car rides—everyone gets a vote.
