I’m not saying never close them. I’m saying be picky. Close an app if it’s frozen and unresponsive—you know, the one where you tap and nothing happens except you feel a little rage.
Close it if it’s playing audio and won’t shut up, even after you hit pause. Sometimes an app gets stuck in a loop, and the only cure is a digital eviction.
And yes, close it if you’re trying to force an update or a new login. But for the love of all that is smooth scrolling, don’t swipe away everything just because you’re bored on a train.
