You might think there’s a catch. Is there a secret handshake? A blood oath? Nope. You just need a child under five. And, you know, an address.
The program is for any kid, anywhere in the world. Well, almost anywhere. It covers the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and a handful of other places. Check Dolly’s website to see if your area is active. But don’t sweat it.
Most of the time, it’s already running in your county. It’s bigger than you think. Way bigger.
Step One: Find Your Local “Affiliate”
Here’s the thing: Dolly doesn’t do this all alone. She’s not in a tiny shed mailing books herself. (Though I’d love to imagine that.) She partners with local organizations. They’re called “affiliates.”
Think of them as the local Dolly ambassadors. They might be a library, a hospital, or a school district. They handle the sign-ups in your zip code. So you need to find your local one.
Go to imaginationlibrary.com. Click that big “Check Availability” button. Boom. You type in your zip code. It takes five seconds. I promise.
If it’s available, the site will show you the registration page. If it’s not? Don’t panic. It just means no one in your town has adopted the program yet. Maybe that’s your next side hustle?
