Don’t baby your lavender. Water it deeply but rarely. It hates wet feet—think of it as a cat that despises water.
Give it full sun. Like, 8 hours of brutal sunshine. If you put it in shade, it will sulk and produce exactly zero flowers.
And don’t fertilize it. I know, it sounds crazy, but lavender loves poor soil. Too much food and you get a floppy, unhappy plant. It’s the only creature who’s happy on a diet.
The “Oops, I Killed It” Reality Check
It happens. Lavender is a bit of a diva. Overwatering is the #1 killer—your plant will turn brown and weepy like a sad emoji.
If it dies, don’t cry. Just buy a new one and pretend you’re “experimenting.” Lavender is cheap, and your failure is part of the fun.
Pro tip: potted lavender grows slower than in-ground lavender. So if you’re in a hurry, put it in the ground (or a big pot).
