If you’re over 16 and need a standard adult passport, you’re looking at £88.50 if you apply online. That’s the current fee for a standard 34-page passport. Yes, it’s a bit more than a fancy dinner out, but it lasts ten whole years.
Do the math: that’s just over £8.85 a year for the freedom to fly anywhere. Compare that to your Netflix subscription—which just shows you the same reruns—and suddenly the passport feels like a bargain. What’s cooler: watching Stranger Things again, or actually walking the streets of Tokyo?
What About the Paper Form?
If Hate filling out forms with a pen, you can still use a paper application. But be prepared: it costs £100. That’s over a tenner more than the online route. Why the difference? The government says it’s because processing paper is slower and more expensive. Honestly, who’s got time for that?
So, do yourself a favour and go online. You’ll save money, and you won’t have to worry about your handwriting looking like a spider fell in ink. Plus, you can upload a photo that actually makes you look chill and not like a passport photo mugshot.
