Here’s the simple rule: if you have less than 10 weeks before your trip, don’t gamble. The standard processing time used to be 6-8 weeks, but now it’s often 8-11 weeks (thanks, global chaos). Fast-track cuts that to about 3-5 weeks for routine expediting.
If you’re booking a spontaneous escape—say, a surprise birthday trip to Paris for your partner—you’re basically begging for expedited service. For an extra $60, you turn a potential nightmare into a story you’ll tell over croissants.
How Much Does a Fast Track Passport Cost in Pakistan? New Fees & Quick Tips
And here’s a pro tip: the price doesn’t change based on how fast you need it. It’s the same $60 whether you’re two months out or two days out. So if you’re a professional last-minute person, this is your friend.
What About Private Expediting Services?
You might see ads for companies promising to “get your passport in 24 hours.” Quick warning: these are not magic wands. They usually charge $200 to $500 on top of the government fees. They basically just hold your hand at the agency. Unless you have more money than patience, skip the glitter and stick with the official fast-track option.
Think of it like hiring a valet for $300 to park your car, when the parking lot is right there. It’s a luxury, but rarely necessary for most of us. For everyday folks, the government’s own expedite fee is plenty.
