Those apps are fun, but they’re not your boss. If an app tells you to drink water when you’re not thirsty, it’s essentially a digital nag. You don’t need a robot to remind you to be alive. Unless you have amnesia, in which case, carry on.
A better rule: drink a glass of water with every meal. It helps digestion, keeps you from overeating, and gives you a built-in hydration schedule. Plus, it makes you look fancy when you sip from a glass instead of chugging from a hose.
Water’s Sneaky Friends (And Foes)
Some drinks are great: milk, herbal tea, and even diluted juice add to your water intake. Others, like soda and alcohol, are dehydration ninjas. They can actually pull water out of your system. So if you’re having a beer, follow it with a glass of water. Your hangover will send you a thank-you card.
And don’t forget: salt is the enemy of hydration. Too much salty food can make you retain water (hello, bloated belly) or make you thirstier. Balance is key—like a tightrope walker with a water bottle.
