Here’s the golden rule: your brine tank should never be full of water. I know, it sounds weird. But the tank is designed to fill only before a regeneration cycle, then drain again. Usually, you’ll see a few inches of water sitting at the bottom.
How many inches? Think 6 to 12 inches on average. That’s about the height of a coffee mug. If you see water halfway up the tank, something is off. Time to investigate.
But wait—does that change depending on your salt level? You bet it does. The water level should be slightly below the top of your salt pile. If the salt is high, water might look lower. That’s totally normal.
