Sometimes, excessive shedding is a red flag. If your dog is losing fur in patches, has bald spots, or you could knit a sweater from what’s on the floor, go see your vet. Allergies, thyroid issues, or parasites can cause abnormal shedding.
That said, normal shedding is just your dog’s way of redecorating your life. They can’t help it—they love you, and they want to leave a piece of themselves everywhere you go. It’s creepy when you think about it, but cute when you don’t.
