Pulling in is shockingly easy. The pitches are spacious—so spacious that your next-door neighbour’s awning seems like it’s in a different postcode. You don’t have to perform the awkward “can-you-scooch-over-your-levelling-ramp” dance with a stranger.
The wardens are annoyingly cheerful in a way that makes you suspect they’ve been drinking the reservoir water. But in a good way. They wave you in like you’re a returning hero, even if your motorhome is covered in mud from a previous, less-glamorous stop.
Waking Up to Grafham’s Famous Water
Come morning, the view is basically a live-action screensaver. The reservoir stretches out like a giant dropped their contact lens and it turned into a lake. You half-expect a serene swan to paddle by with a tiny coffee cup. The real star, though, is the silence—broken only by the occasional “whoosh” of a windsurfer or the sound of someone’s kettle going off. It’s the kind of quiet that makes you forget you have a to-do list.
