Let’s start with the UK, because that’s where the Queen’s (well, King’s) Christmas cards have to fly from. For standard parcels heading overseas, the final posting date for Australia, New Zealand, and Africa is typically December 4th, 2026. Yes, you read that right. December 4th—that’s before most people have even put up their fake tree.
If you miss that deadline, your gift will not be “delayed.” It will be hijacked by rogue kangaroos and used as a nest for a very grumpy kiwi bird. For the rest of the world—Europe, USA, Canada—you’ve got until December 11th for standard airmail. That’s when you panic-buy a wheel of cheddar for your aunt in Toronto.
The Economy Class of Cheer (Slow & Bumpy)
Now, if you’re frugal (read: cheap) and opt for Economy or Surface Mail, the deadline is a terrifying November 18th, 2026. That’s basically last week. Your card will travel by cargo ship, stopping in Portugal for a nap, then Iceland for a souvenir magnet, before finally arriving in March. By then, your recipient will think the gift is for their 2027 birthday.
Pro-tip: If you send gummy candies via surface mail, they will arrive as a single, rock-hard, diamond-like substance. Fun for the dentist, terrible for the taste buds.
