Here’s a secret: For 99% of people, it doesn’t matter. Your iron won’t stage a rebellion if you use one or the other. But if you’re filling a CPAP machine or a fish tank, check the manual. Some fish are very picky about their water. They’re basically underwater aristocrats.
Also, distilled water is often more expensive because boiling takes energy and time. Demineralised water is usually cheaper, especially if it’s made in bulk. Your wallet cares. Mine does, anyway.
The “But What About My Health?” Question
Drinking either long-term? Not recommended. Both strip minerals from your body if you guzzle them exclusively. Your teeth and bones need that stuff. So, please don’t replace your tap water with demineralised or distilled forever. Your body is not a lab experiment—unless you’re a scientist, in which case, carry on.
But a glass here or there? Totally fine. It won’t turn you into a raisin. Just don’t make it your daily ritual. Unless you enjoy that weird, empty-mouthed feeling.
