When he announced he was leaving, it felt like getting ghosted by the one person who actually sent thoughtful text messages. We all went through the five stages of grief in about ten minutes, mostly denial.
“He’ll come back,” I told myself, while staring at a screenshot of him brooding in a tub. “It’s just a creative break—like when you quit the gym for two weeks, then realize your back hurts.”
The rumor mill went into overdrive. Some said he was tired of the scripts. Others whispered he was off to battle Superman again. And then there was the crowd that swore he was busy saving a village of orphaned kittens.
Why We Miss Him (And It’s Not Just the Abs)
Look, we can all admit he looked good without a shirt. But it went deeper than that. Cavill brought a soul to Geralt—a grumpy, reluctant hero who just wanted to find his lost goat and have a quiet dinner with his sorceress girlfriend.
It’s like having that one coworker who actually understands the coffee machine. You don’t realize how much you relied on them until the new guy pours hot chocolate into the espresso tank. The new guy—Liam Hemsworth—is great, but it’s just not the same.
We’d all gotten used to the grunts, the deep voice that could sell gravel, and that look of “I’ve seen a thousand horrors, but this lute player is the worst.” It was comforting, like your favorite pair of ripped jeans.
