Here’s where things get juicy. In early 2026, rumors swirled that Shona might be taking a break or even leaving the soap entirely. The tabloids went into overdrive, as they always do when a long-term star is spotted having a meeting with producers. But let’s separate fact from fiction.
As of late 2026, Shona has not officially announced her departure. She remains under contract, and Whitney is still heavily featured in storylines. However, soap contracts are notoriously fluid—actors often take sabbaticals or decide to move on after a big plot arc.
A fun fact: Shona once said in an interview that she doesn’t even watch the show back because seeing her own acting makes her cringe. Relatable energy, honestly. Who among us hasn’t avoided a work Zoom recording?
Whitney’s Current Arc: A Spoiler-Lite Check-In
Right now, Whitney is navigating one of her most intense storylines yet. Without giving too much away, she’s dealing with motherhood, trauma, and a complicated love triangle. Typical Whitney, right? She’s the only character who can make a trip to the market feel like a thriller.
If you’re a casual viewer, here’s your cheat sheet: Whitney is the heart of the show. She’s the character who cries, screams, and then puts on red lipstick and starts again. McGarty has won praise for handling heavy material with a lightness that feels real.
