No, your bills aren’t magically going to deliver themselves. On a bank holiday, mail delivery stops. That means no catalogs, no birthday cards (sorry, Grandma), and no junk mail to immediately recycle. It’s eerie—like the world’s quietest zombie apocalypse, but with fewer zombies.
However, if you’re a business and you ship via Priority Mail Express, that might still get delivered on some holidays. But don’t quote me—check the fine print like your life depends on it. Spoiler: your life probably doesn’t, but your package’s does.
Does post come on Bank Holidays and is the Post Office open today
The Great “Columbus Day” Confusion
Some bank holidays are weird. Take Columbus Day: banks close, but the post office might be open. Or not. It depends on the year, the phase of the moon, and how much coffee the person updating the website had. Pro tip: Always Google “[your town] post office hours [holiday name]” on the morning of. You’ll look like a genius.
And then there’s Veterans Day. That one’s a federal holiday, so post offices are closed. But some people think it’s a bank holiday, so they show up only to find a locked door and a sad pigeon. Don’t be that person.
