Here’s a stat that makes me smile: Gabriel scored 11 goals in his last 10 games for the U18 side. That’s basically a goal from every position on the field—left foot, right foot, header, and one that probably bounced off his knee. He’s the kind of player who could trip over his own laces and still get a shot off. It reminds me of my uncle who wins every family card game by sheer force of will—ugly, brilliant, and impossible to stop.
Then there’s the “clutch” factor. In games where the score was tied or his team was down by one, his goal contribution jumped by 40%. That’s like your friend who suddenly magics up a great parking spot just when you’re late for a movie. He doesn’t shrink under pressure; he blossoms. These are the moments that separate a decent player from someone who makes you forget to eat your popcorn.
From U18 to the Big Pond
Every great player has a “before” picture. Cristiano Ronaldo? Skinny kid with braces. Lionel Messi? Dribbling past bigger kids while wearing a backpack. JJ Gabriel’s U18 stats are his “before” photo, but they’re already screaming “future star”. Scouts aren’t watching these games for fresh air; they’re here for him. One agent said his numbers are “ridiculous for a 17-year-old,” which in soccer-speak is like saying your dog fixed the leaky faucet—you’re flabbergasted but impressed.

What makes it more lovable is his playing style. He’s not just a poacher waiting for tap-ins. He tracks back, he pressures defenders, and he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. That’s like having a friend who always knows where the best dessert is in a new city—it’s a gift. His passing accuracy in the final third is above 80%, meaning he’s not greedy either. He shares the ball like a host who makes sure everyone’s glass is full.
