We spoke with several energy market analysts to get their take on MeganIEX. Their opinions are mixed but generally positive.
Dr. Elena Marchetti, a senior analyst at a European energy consultancy, noted that MeganIEX fills a gap. "The market has been crying out for a platform that combines speed with simplicity. MeganIEX is not perfect, but it is a step in the right direction. The integrated REC trading alone could drive adoption as renewable mandates tighten."
James Kowalski, a former trader now running a market advisory firm, was more cautious. "The technology is impressive. But liquidity is king in this business. Until MeganIEX can match the depth of ICE, it will remain a niche player. That said, niches can be very profitable."
Both analysts agreed that the platform's API-first approach is its strongest asset. "Algorithmic trading is the future of energy markets," Marchetti said. "MeganIEX is built for that future. The old exchanges are playing catch-up."
