Here’s a weird bit of trivia: Freeman also narrated March of the Penguins in 2005. He’s basically the official voice of Antarctic love stories. I’m convinced his agent has a phone contact named “Penguin-Human Liaison” on speed dial. If this keeps up, his next film will be Morgan Freeman: Avian Therapist.
Morgan Freeman Movies
Also, he filmed this movie right after turning 87. That’s older than the average lifespan of a Galápagos tortoise. And yet, he’s out here catching penguin fish with more energy than I have catching a bus. Unfair.
The Real Magic? The Penguin’s Name
The real penguin was named Dindim. In Portuguese, that’s a cute nickname for “little one.” In my head, it’s a legal name, and Dindim now has a passport and a Twitter account. @RealDindimPenguin posts fish puns. I’m not joking—someone actually made a fan account.
Morgan Freeman’s character calls the penguin “Dimdim.” It’s the first time in history a human has ever said a name so sweetly that a bird thinks about its taxes. You’ll see what I mean.
