Let’s be real: you didn’t sleep. You spent the night Googling “waiting list appeals” and “how to fake a house move.” Classic. And now, at 8:01 AM, you’re gripping your phone like it’s a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s school.
The email arrives. Your heart does a little tap dance. Is it a yes? A no? A “try again next year” from the universe? You open it, squinting like you’re defusing a bomb.
The Big Reveal: Chaos or Joy?
If your child got their first choice, congratulations! You are now a legend. You’ll spend the next hour texting everyone, using words like “thrilled” and “over the moon.” You might even cry a little. No judgment.
But what if it’s a no? Or a “here’s a school you’ve never heard of”? Don’t panic. Seriously. I know you want to throw your phone across the room. But remember: millions of kids survive this. You will too.
Here’s the secret: National Offer Day is just the first act. Waiting lists move. Appeals happen. And sometimes, the “wrong” school turns out to be the best plot twist your kid’s story ever needed. Weird, right?
