I think we rewatch “Three for Tea” because it reminds us that failure is not the end. It’s just a detour. Del, Rodney, and Grandad will be back in the next episode, broke again, but with another plan. There’s a strange comfort in that—a permission slip to laugh at our own daft decisions. It’s the comfort of knowing that, no matter how badly we mess up, we probably won’t end up hallucinating a vicar as a giant teapot.
So next time you’re feeling a bit low, or your own “brilliant plan” has backfired, skip the meditation app. Stick on “Three for Tea.” Watch the slow-motion tea spillage. Laugh at Denzil’s horrified face. And remember: if you’ve got a mug, a friend, and a sense of humour about the whole mess, you’re already richer than Del Boy ever was. Just, you know, stick to proper Earl Grey. Trust me on that one.
