Prince Henry's goal was to reach Asia by sea, which was a pretty ambitious plan considering the technology at the time. He spent years studying maps and talking to sailors and merchants to learn as much as he could. And, fun fact, he even helped establish a navigational school in Portugal to teach others about the sea!
One of the most interesting things about Prince Henry is that he was a bit of a perfectionist. He designed his own ships and even created a new type of sailing vessel called the caravel. These ships were fast and maneuverable, making them perfect for exploring the open ocean.
