Boil your potatoes, then dump them into a large bowl. Grab a rolling pin or even a clean wine bottle (label off) and roll over them like you’re making angry dough. Then add your butter and milk, and mix with a fork. It’s lazy, effective, and gives your arms a surprising workout. You’ll be sore, but your potatoes will be smooth.
Pro tip: warm your milk and butter before adding them. Cold ingredients shock the starch and make your mash turn into cement. I’ve done it. It’s sad. Don’t be me.
