Do they have events? Oh, honey. They have events on top of events. The annual summer fête is legendary. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried a lukewarm sausage roll from a bouncy castle vendor. The tombola is pure chaos, and I love it.
Then there’s the Christmas Carol Service. It’s packed. You’ll be squished against a pillar, sharing a hymn book with a stranger who smells like mulled wine. And that’s the best part. It feels like a giant, slightly chaotic family reunion.
Don’t even get me started on the Easter Vigil. It starts in total darkness and ends with everyone holding candles. It’s dramatic, it’s beautiful, and it’s a little bit ridiculous in the best possible way. You’ll feel like an extra in an epic movie.
The Location: Right in the Thick of It
Saint Anne Line sits on High Road, South Woodford. You can’t miss it. It’s right opposite the station, which is insanely convenient. You can literally hop off the Central Line, walk twenty steps, and be inside a sacred space.
It’s surrounded by shops and cafes. So, after mass, you can grab a flat white from the café next door and argue about the homily with your mates. It’s the perfect Sunday routine, if you ask me. Spiritual growth, then caffeine. Priorities.
And the parking? Don’t get me started. It’s a nightmare. But isn’t that a sign of a good church? You have to work to get in. It builds character, right? (Or a lot of swearing from drivers, but we’ll call it character.)
