First up: The Last Kingdom. Think of it as the scrappy, grittier cousin who shows up to the family reunion smelling like ale and mud. It’s set in 9th-century England, and Uhtred—our hero with a permanent scowl—is stuck between two worlds.
Does he fight for the Vikings who raised him or the Saxons he was born into? It’s a non-stop cycle of oaths, betrayals, and very cool shield walls. Seriously, no dragons, but the sword fights? Chef’s kiss.
And the best part? It actually finished with a satisfying movie. Remember what that feels like? Yeah, me neither.
