That’s more than the entire country of Estonia. (No, I don’t know why we’re comparing it to Estonia, but it sounds impressive, right?)

They do everything from helping someone with mild anxiety learn to breathe again, to pioneering research in psychosis and dementia. So when you write down SE5 8AZ, you’re writing down a place where millions of people have found a bit of light, or at least a warm cup of tea and a kind ear.
A Little Joke for Your Travels
If you ever visit the Maudsley campus (and you might, as a patient, a visitor, or a very lost tourist wondering why everyone looks so calm and thoughtful), look for the Maudsley Garden. It’s a lovely green space with benches, perfect for sitting and thinking, “Wow, I’m at a famous psychiatric hospital, and all I see is birds and flowers.” It’s like the universe’s way of saying, “Yes, mental health can be peaceful too.”
Also, the cafe there does a surprisingly good flapjack. Seriously. I’m not kidding. That flapjack has probably healed more emotional wounds than some textbooks.
