Haven Greenacres isn’t just a camping field with a tap. It’s a full-blown holiday village with about 600 pitches, from posh static caravans to tents that look like they were assembled by drunken badgers. The main hub has a swimming pool complex that’s warm enough to make you forget the Welsh drizzle. And the pool has a flume—a slide that launches you into the water at speeds that make you question your life choices.
The entertainment complex, called the ShowBar, is where the magic happens. Think cheesy bingo, kids’ discos, and a man named “Barry the Entertainer” who does a very questionable Elvis impersonation. I’m not saying Barry is bad—I’m saying his “Blue Suede Shoes” dance looks more like a man trying to stomp on a spider while wearing oven mitts. But the kids love it, and the adults love the bar prices.
One surprising fact: the park is built on land that was once a World War II airfield. Yes, RAF Morfa Bychan. So while you’re sipping a cider by your caravan, you’re sitting on a spot where brave pilots once took off to fight. It’s a bit humbling. Also, it explains why some of the pathways are suspiciously wide and straight—they’re literally old runways.
Wildlife and Other Unexpected Guests
Prepare for the local wildlife to be your new neighbors. The park is crawling with rabbits. Not like one or two—hordes of them. They’ve got no fear. One will stare at you while you’re trying to cook a burger, and it will judge you. “Oh, you’re using gas? My ancestors foraged in the hedgerows, you soft-handed tourist.” Also, the seagulls are criminals. They’ll steal your pasty mid-bite. I saw one pull a sandwich out of a toddler’s hand so fast the kid just blinked.

But the real stars aren’t the gulls. It’s the dolphins. I’m not joking. The waters in Cardigan Bay, just a short drive from the park, are home to a pod of bottlenose dolphins. You can take a boat trip from Porthmadog harbour and see them playing in the wake. It’s genuinely magical. And then you come back to the park and see Barry doing his Elvis routine again, which resets the magic to “delightfully bizarre.”
