Think about it. We spend our whole lives complaining about queues. Then, on a Bank Holiday, we celebrate the chance to queue for anything.
It’s a national sport. “Did you get to Tesco?” is a genuine conversation starter. It’s up there with weather and train strikes.
And the drama? Unmatched. One wrong hour on Google Maps can ruin your entire afternoon. Your sausage rolls depend on this information.
The Great Sausage Roll Emergency
Picture this: It’s 11am on a Monday. You have guests. You have nothing. You need pigs in blankets or social death.
You sprint to the Express. It’s open. The relief is palpable. You hug a stranger over the refrigerated aisle.
That, right there, is why we care about opening times. It’s not shopping. It’s survival.
Are shops open today? Tesco, Co-op, Aldi and Sainsbury’s August Bank
