You absolutely must go to Beigel Bake (that’s the proper spelling, accept it). It’s open 24 hours, and the queue snakes out the door even at 3 a.m. Order a salt beef bagel with mustard and a pickle the size of your forearm. Cost? About the price of a bus ticket, but it tastes like a hug from a Jewish grandmother.
The shop has been here since the 1970s, and the machine that slices the beef is older than most of the people in the queue. If you don’t get mustard on your shirt, you did it wrong. Wear dark colors, for heaven’s sake.
