Spain technically has two time zones. One for mainland Spain (which is an hour ahead). And one for the Canaries (which matches the UK). It’s a bureaucratic loophole that makes zero sense—and we love it.

In the UK, December feels like a permanent 4 PM twilight. In the Canaries, the sun sets around 6 PM. Your watch says 6 PM in both places, but one feels like a glorious golden hour, and the other feels like a sad desk lamp.
