There’s also a genetic test. It looks for the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes. Almost everyone with celiac has one of these. But here’s the twist: 30% of the population has them, but most never get sick.
This test can rule out celiac disease. If you don’t have the genes, you almost certainly don’t have it. It’s like checking if you have the keys to the gluten prison.
No genes? Congratulations! Your gut is just dramatic for other reasons.
