Look, acronyms are the language of our time. They’re how we sound smart while saving syllables. But DLR is a perfect example of why context is everything. You can be in a room with a gamer, a banker, a mechanic, a coder, and a classic rock fan, and all of them will nod sagely at “DLR” while meaning completely different things.
My advice? If someone drops DLR in a conversation, ask them, “Which one?” They’ll either laugh, give you a smug explanation, or—if they’re a music snob—hand you a copy of 1984 and walk away. Either way, you’ll never be confused again.
(Unless they start talking about “DLR” in astrophysics. I haven’t found that one yet. But I wouldn’t bet against it.)
