Elephants have the largest brain of any land animal, and they use it for empathy. They mourn their dead, comfort distressed friends, and recognize themselves in mirrors. Also, they can keep a grudge for decades.
One elephant in India held a grudge against a truck driver who hit her. When she saw the same truck two years later, she destroyed it. That’s not revenge; that’s project management.
They communicate with infrasound—rumbles too low for humans to hear—across miles. Imagine sending a text message by belly-rumbling to your buddy in the next county.
