You have to double-check. Always. Because the NFL loves to toy with our emotions. One tweet from Adam Schefter and suddenly kickoff moves to 4:25 PM. Or worse—Sunday Night Football. That’s a whole different beast.
Right now, as of this coffee chat, it’s a solid 1:00 PM Eastern start. But I’m not a fortune teller. I’m just a friend with an internet connection. Verify that sucker on the team’s website five minutes before kickoff. You’ve been warned.
Why does this time matter so much?
Because you’ve got plans, don’t you? Maybe you’re hosting a watch party. Or sneaking away from a family gathering. Or, like me, you’re planning a nap that perfectly aligns with the game.
1:00 PM games are the unsung heroes of the NFL schedule. You wake up. You make coffee. You watch the pregame shows. You eat nachos by noon. The game ends by 4:30 PM. You still have the whole evening to pretend you’re a productive adult. It’s beautiful.
Compare that to a 4:25 PM game. That’s the “I’ve been couch-locked for six hours and my spine is now a question mark” slot. Or SNF? That’s “I’m going to bed angry at 11:30 PM because they lost.” No thank you.
