Honestly, I ask myself this every year. The official story is that we’re saving daylight. Lots of it. It’s supposedly for farmers and energy bills.
But, let’s be real. Does it actually save anything? My coffee consumption definitely goes up. My patience goes down. That’s not a trade-off I signed up for.
We’re basically tricking the sun. “Hey, sun, stay out longer!” And the sun just laughs. It doesn’t care about our clocks.
The Exceptions (Because Nothing Can Be Simple)
Now, if you live in Hawaii or most of Arizona, you’re off the hook. You can laugh at the rest of us stumbling around in the dark. Lucky ducks.
Same goes for US territories like Puerto Rico and Guam. No springing forward for them. They live in a blissful, time-zone paradise. I’m not jealous. Okay, maybe a little.
