If you’re unemployed and homeless, you might get that cavity pulled for free at a clinic. But to prove you’re homeless, you need an address. Yes, it’s as dumb as it sounds.
Some cities run mobile dental vans that park in poor neighborhoods. They’ll do cleanings and fillings for free, but you have to show up at 6 a.m. in line with 50 other grouchy people. Last time I tried, a woman ahead of me brought a folding chair and a thermos of coffee. She was the hero we needed.
