Let’s be honest for a second. Peter is insufferable in this film. He gets the symbiote and immediately becomes arrogant, selfish, and petty. He hurts everyone he loves—Mary Jane, Aunt May, even Harry. And then he tries to blame the suit, like it’s a bad mood ring.
But here’s the kicker: Peter chose to wear the suit. He chose to enjoy the power. He chose to ignore his friends. The symbiote didn’t make him evil; it just revealed what was already there. Uncle Ben’s famous line, “With great power comes great responsibility,” gets thrown out the window.
So maybe the bad guy is Peter’s ego. Or his inability to communicate. Or his decision to treat Mary Jane like a trophy. Honestly, if I were Mary Jane, I’d have thrown that black goo at him myself.
