Every time a regeneration looms, we all turn into that friend who insists "the original is better" but secretly loves the new flavour. I remember when they cast Ncuti Gatwa; my brain went, "Wait, the guy from Sex Education?" Then I watched him and felt like a complete idiot for doubting the universe’s casting couch.
It’s like when you replace your favourite old hoodie with a new one from a random charity shop. You’re suspicious at first, but then it fits weirdly perfect and becomes your new best friend. That’s the magic of the Doctor – the actor becomes the role faster than you can say "wibbly-wobbly."
The Usual Suspects vs. The Wild Card
We’ve got the usual shortlist that pops up every time. It’s like a pub quiz where the same guys always answer "Jonathan Groff" or "Michael Sheen." I’d personally love to see someone like Lashana Lynch or Hannah Waddingham waltz in and just take control of the TARDIS like it’s a posh brunch booking.
But the real fun is the wild card. You know, the actor who’s done that one niche indie film you watched at 3 a.m. on a Tuesday. Remember when everyone thought it would be Idris Elba forever? That’s like thinking you’ll finally win the lottery – it’s a nice dream, but the universe has other plans.
