Let’s not ignore the toxic cloud that followed Jax around. Ratings were dropping, and producers wanted to freshen up the cast. Keeping Jax and Brittany meant keeping the same old fights: Jax lying, Brittany crying, and everyone else rolling their eyes.
It got stale. Even the audience started asking, “Wait, why is Brittany still with this guy?” when he’d mess up again. The show needed new chaos, not the same tired drama.
Plus, a lot of cast members genuinely hated working with Jax by the end. Stassi and Kristen were already fired, and the remaining crew—like Lala and Katie—had no patience for his “I’m a changed man” routine. It was either cut him or lose him. Bravo chose option B.
And Then There’s the Parenting Angle
Brittany has said multiple times that “the drinking culture” on the show wasn’t healthy for their son. Which, fair. But also, Jax was the guy who once peed on a bathroom floor at a club while filming. Is that really “parenting content”?
I think they realized that being on Vanderpump Rules meant they’d always be the messy couple who fight in a restaurant parking lot. If they wanted to rebrand as cute, boring parents, they had to leave first.
Why Did Brittany Cartwright Leave 'Vanderpump Rules'?
It worked, didn’t it? Their spin-off The Valley is actually kind of… watchable? It’s low-stakes drama about neighbors and barbecue parties. Jax is still a little insufferable, but now he’s mostly complaining about lawn care.
